Each color collage is inspired by a specific color palette that is determined before a piece is begun. With colors in mind, the strips of the pre-determined hue are collected from many magazines to insure variety of texture, shading and tints. The layout and composition is determined next and then construction begins. A clear gesso is used on stretched canvas to help glue the strips in place. As the strips are applied in layers the strips are allowed to dry at different lengths of time to create a wrinkling effect that adds texture and dimensionality to the piece. Once the work is complete an additional clear varnish is applied to protect against damage and fading.  Some pieces will have painted handmade wooden lath frames attached with finishing nails and some pieces are left with rough edges to create more visual interest and shadows. Each custom piece has its own look and inspirational story to inspire and bring joy to the viewer.
